  • Burgin Independent Schools' Cold Weather Policy and Snow Plan

During the winter months several factors come into play that could delay the start of school or cause school to be closed. One such factor is the wind chill on a given day. On particularly cold mornings we continuously monitor the National Weather Service and closely monitor the weather conditions.

There are two possible scenarios that come from the National Weather Service: a Wind Chill Advisory and a Wind Chill Warning. The National Weather Service defines the two as the following: Wind Chill Advisory: Wind Chills between -20 and -34 degrees and at least a 4 mph wind for 3 hours or more. Wind Chill Warning: Wind Chills -35 degrees and below with at least a 4 mph wind for 3 hours or more.

  • Parent / Student Survey

In order to renew my Family Resource and Youth Services Center grant, I am required to survey parents and students about their concerns. Please take a few minutes to answer these multiple choice questions. Your answers will not only help with renewing the grant, but will also guide programming for the next two years. Thank you.

  • We are a Proficient School District!

Burgin Independent is ranked a 2015 Proficient/Progressing District.

We are pleased with the progress our students have made as evidenced by the release of the 2015 Unbridled Learning Accountability results. We feel good about the results, but we still have work to do.

Congratulations to all the students, parents, teachers, and staff for this outstanding accomplishment.
