    Elementary and Middle School Open House

    Open house is Monday, July 17th. Everyone (Grades 1st-8th) will start in the gym at 6:00 PM.

    Come meet your new teachers, obtain beginning-of-the-year paperwork, and pay school fees. Also, you will have the opportunity to learn about lunch accounts, PTO, after school programs, etc.

    Kindergarten parent night also begins at 6:00 PM, July 17th. (This is for parents only. Please no children.)

    REMEMBER: The first day of school is Wednesday, August 2nd!

    Burgin Independent Names New Superintendent

    Will Begley has been named the new superintendent of the Burgin Independent School District.

    "Mr. Begley brings twenty three years of educational experience in the areas of classroom teacher, coach, principal, and campus supervisor," said Burgin Board of Education Chairman Bob Clark. "He is very familiar with the unique educational experience that our school system provides for each and every student. His hands on approach makes him exceptionally well suited to the educational philosophy of Burgin Independent Schools."

    Begley will begin his four-year contract on July 1, replacing Martha Collier, who is retiring.

    A meet and greet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Burgin library.

    Early Bird Sale!!

    Students and Parents may purchase a copy of the 2016-2017 Burgin Independent School yearbook in the front office for $40 through the end of this week (3/24). After the early bird sale, the price will increase to $45 per copy.

    The yearbook includes all-color pages that vibrantly capture school memories. It has a durable, long-lasting hard cover that protects treasured memories for a lifetime. And, the school name and year is imprinted in foil on the front cover.

  • Kindergarten Entry Cutoff Moves Up

    Beginning with the upcoming school year, children entering kindergarten must be five years old on or before August 1st. The General Assembly changed the law in 2012 moving the cutoff date from October 1st to August 1st. These changes take effect for the 2017-18 school year.

    Burgin Independent Schools will be holding kindergarten screenings and registration in May for children who will turn five on or before August 1, 2017. Please contact Principal Chris LeMonds or Director of Pupil Personnel Matt Grimes at Burgin School with questions about kindergarten enrollment.

    The WHAS Crusade for Children, Inc. established in 1954 by WHAS-TV, raises money for agencies, schools and hospitals to better the lives of special needs children.

    $165 million raised for special needs children

    In its first 62 years, the Crusade has raised more than $165 million. Thanks to generous contributions of goods and services, the Crusade is able to return 100 percent of all donations to organizations that serve special needs children in all 120 Kentucky counties and more than 50 southern Indiana counties.
